Who made Posh Stink: Alkeme Design and the craft of a perfume brand

Posh Stink was created by Alkeme Design, a brand design studio: the concept, the names and notes, the logo, the packaging, the photography and this website.

Poison Dart by Posh Stink: a 100 ml bottle of eau de parfum photographed in the colour of its season

In short

Posh Stink was created by Alkeme Design, a brand design studio that works with product brands in the UK, the European Union, the US and the Middle East. Alkeme Design made the concept, the names and notes of the four fragrances, the logo, the packaging, the art direction of the photographs, the particle website and the copy.

A perfume brand, from one idea

Alkeme Design started Posh Stink from one sentence: the fourth dimension of scent is time. Everything else followed from it: one batch a year, one fragrance for each season, one colour for each fragrance and a website that changes with the seasons.

A perfume brand is mostly invisible. People buy a scent they cannot smell online, so the brand has to do the work of the nose: the name, the bottle, the colour and the story are what make someone want to try it.

The logo and the bottle

The Posh Stink logo is the bottle itself: a cylinder with a faceted cap, drawn in one heavy line, with the name set large on the label. The same mark works on black, in the colour of each season and on its own as the favicon.

The packaging is one bottle for all four fragrances: clear heavy glass, a black cap cut like a stone and a label with three lines only. The glass stays clear, so the season is carried by the colour around it.

One colour per season

Each Posh Stink fragrance was photographed in a single colour from edge to edge: volcanic red for Smoky Magma, papaya orange for Monkey Punch, ice white for Cold Tsunami and rainforest green for Poison Dart.

The colour is the brand system. It runs through the photograph, the text, the menu and the particles of the website, so each season reads as its own world.

A website made of particles

The Posh Stink website is built in WebGL, in the browser, with no plugins. Each photograph is turned into a depth map and then into a cloud of hundreds of thousands of points, and one scroll moves exactly one season: the image breaks into particles and the next bottle gathers out of the cloud.

Alkeme Design designed and built the site, wrote the copy, and prepared the search and AI visibility: structured data, a sitemap and llms.txt files that tell AI assistants what each fragrance smells like.
